A Closer Look: Emily Hagberg

Emily Hagberg has been a Medical Assistant for an impressive 24 years—the last 3 at Clinic Sofia, which she “loves because of the wonderful staff and patients and the opportunity to meet new people.” She started her career in Orthopedics and also worked in Oncology and Family Practice but “always had a love for OBGYN care and was happy to find my way back to it.”

Vaccinations and screenings are essential tools in the fight against cervical cancer, a cancer that starts in the cells of the cervix and is typically caused by an HPV-linked infection. HPV or human papillomavirus is a common virus transmitted through sexual contact—in fact, most sexually active people will contract at least one of the many strains of HPV.

You may have had the good luck to meet Amy Nelson, a Certified Medical Assistant and Lab Tech, since she has been a part of the Clinic Sofia team for nearly two decades! She works alongside our physicians to take care of patients, assist with prenatal checkups, coordinating lab work and scheduling, and more.

Meet Nikki Scheer: Nikki, our Medical Assistant Supervisor who joined the field based on long-time admiration for the healthcare profession, is also a mom to four kids ages 7 to 20 plus three dogs (“who says chaos can’t be fun?”), and a serious music fan.
