Marsha Alexander, MDAs a child of the 60's and 70's, I saw an opportunity in Women's Health Care to provide other women with the skill and information to make informed decisions about their own health. I have always strived to empower myself through education and becoming responsible for my own decisions. Likewise, I would be thrilled to assist women taking responsibility for their health decisions. As a medical student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, I was impressed by a particular professor who showed me the variety of areas within OB/GYN which makes it challenging and never boring. This was further made obvious to me when the subspecialties within our field started to develop while I was in residency at the University of Minnesota OB/GYN program. Although I have been in practice over 30 years now, I have learned even more as I add this knowledge to my personal experiences as I have gone through my adult life - contraceptive challenges as a young woman, preserving my fertility while in my college and medical training years, the experience of pregnancy and childbirth and the inevitable "slide" into menopause and the exciting years still ahead. My practice is very rewarding and gives me the opportunity to learn and to share my experiences with the women who are seen daily in this office. I would hope that this could be each woman's experience as well when she seeks care at Clinic Sofia. |
