While deciding whether to pursue math or music in college, Sarah Iverson took an advanced biology class and fell in love—with the marvels of science and medicine, the human body, and continuous learning.

What I find fascinating is how much our bodies and our health impact our opportunities, our jobs, our relationships and our future plans. My love of science and my love of connecting with others makes medicine a perfect fit. For me, the physician assistant role is ideal because I get to spend time with patients, focusing on education.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, Sarah served as an international volunteer for Young Adults in Global Mission in Rwanda. During her time in Rwanda, she mentored youth at a local school, collaborated with staff to create a new high school science lab, and developed first-aid classes for students and staff.

As healthcare providers, we are privileged to get to know people’s life stories, help them navigate difficult times, celebrate the good and be advocates through it all.

Prior to joining Clinic Sofia, Sarah practiced in family medicine as a Physician Assistant for Olmsted Medical Center in Pine Island, MN, and worked in fundraising and development for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ECLA) in Chicago.

A dedicated community volunteer, Sarah serves on the board of directors for Global Health Ministries, supporting health systems and communities abroad through medical equipment, grassroots efforts and local leadership training. Sarah was a member of the Advanced Practice Clinician Leadership Team for Olmsted Medical Center, and a member of the Olmsted County United Way Listening Team, which helped shape the organization’s evolving understanding of local needs and assets.

Beyond her work and volunteer commitments, Sarah loves to cook, “a well-stocked kitchen with no recipe to follow is my happy place and creative outlet.” She also enjoys running, camping, sailing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
