Three Clinic Sofia Doctors Named Rising Stars

03.31.2023

We are thrilled to share that three Clinic Sofia doctors have been named to Mpls/St. Paul magazine's 2023 Top Doctors Rising Stars Edition!

Please join us in congratulating Dr. David Clay, Dr. Amy Hammers and Dr. Erin Stevens who recently earned the recognition—an annual award that celebrates exceptional physicians in the first decade of their careers. Honorees are selected by their peers who are asked to nominate one or more doctors they would go to if they or a loved one were seeking medical care. For more information, check out the April issue of the magazine or visit www.mspmag.com.

Q&A: Preparing Teens for First Gynecology Visit

02.21.2023

Dr. Erin Stevens recently contributed a column to Minnesota Parent to help prepare teens (and parents) for a first gynecology visit. She addresses questions such as when teens may need their first appointment and what to expect. "The gynecologist’s office can feel scary – but it doesn’t have to be! We’re here to empower your child in their reproductive health now and for years to come." Read the complete article here.

Dr. Stevens talks to POPSUGAR

12.19.2022

Dr. Erin Stevens was interviewed by POPSUGAR for an article, " Can You Absorb DNA Through Sex?" after the topic was brought to light in the Netflix reality TV show called "Too Hot To Handle." "There's absolutely no evidence to the claim that it's absorbed from semen-producing sex partners," Erin Stevens, MD, OBGYN at Clinic Sofia, tells POPSUGAR. "Though - to quote Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park - 'life, uh, finds a way' and sperm can survive in the gynecologic sexual tract for up to 5 days, they die after that, disintegrate, and are flushed from the body rather than making their way to the brain to take over." He also discussed what led to their personal decision to pursue a vasectomy. You can read the column here.
