Considering a Breast Reduction Procedure?

Large breasts can lead to severe neck pain and back pain, rashes on the skin, uncomfortable grooves in the shoulders and chest from bras, and difficulty sleeping, not to mention self-confidence issues. To relieve discomfort and create better proportion in the body, many women turn to breast reduction surgery, where excess fat, skin and tissue are surgically removed from the breasts.

“Breast reduction surgery can lead to better comfort and self-image, increase your ability to enjoy various activities and simply create more balance in the body,” said Dr. Jewelia Wagner. “If you are considering breast reduction, we are happy to discuss options and provide referrals for the procedure.”

While breastfeeding can be more challenging after a breast reduction procedure, it is still possible. Most doctors, however, will encourage women to wait until they are finished breastfeeding.

When you consult with a surgeon, make sure you discuss your reasons for the procedure, any challenges you’ve had and your goals. Breast reduction will either take place in an outpatient facility or hospital with a short stay. It is important to be in good shape before the surgery to ensure faster healing afterwards; make sure you follow all of your doctor’s orders.
