Clinic Sofia Hosts Third Annual Crimson Kits Drive
Supporting women in the community who may not have access to the products they need during their period, Clinic Sofia is hosting its third-annual “Crimson Kits” drive, collecting period products to donate to Haven Housing and People Serving People ahead of the holidays. Last year, Clinic Sofia collected enough supplies to support approximately 30 women through their periods for a full year.
Throughout the month of November, Clinic Sofia is collecting period products – pads, tampons, panty liners, sanitizing wipes, menstrual cups, hand sanitizer, underwear and even chocolate—to support women experiencing homelessness or displacement due to domestic violence.
More than 500 million women and girls worldwide lack the means to purchase products to manage their monthly periods, according to a report from UNICEF and the World Health Organization, a problem that is only compounded for those displaced from their homes.
“As we approach the giving season, we are again bringing our focus on women’s health and wellness to support women in the community who need it most,” said Dr. Erin Stevens of Clinic Sofia. “Anything you can donate will make a genuine difference in someone’s life – we truly appreciate the generosity of the Clinic Sofia team, patients, families and community.”
Dr. Stevens was recently named to the board of Haven Housing and also won a “WaveMaker” award from TeamWomen in honor of her passion for women’s health and dedication to serving her community. She spearheaded the idea for the kits in 2017 after learning of the great need for period products at local nonprofits.
Products can be dropped off or mailed to either of Clinic Sofia’s locations:
- Clinic Sofia Edina: 6545 France Ave South Suite 490, Edina, MN 55435
- Clinic Sofia Maple Grove: 15679 Grove Circle North, Maple Grove, MN 55369
On the evening of Dec. 5, the clinic will open up its Edina office to patients, family and friends to compile the donations and assemble the Crimson Kits.
